After what seems an eternity of teasing, JLR have finally launched the all Electric Range Rover. So, what are the headline figures? Well, it offers more torque than any other Range Rover to date (850 Nm) thanks to its two 260 kW twin permanent magnet electric motors giving a power output of 550 PS. This puts the power output right where it needs to be compared with it fossil fueled siblings. With a Range of up to 372 miles, it also seems to have day to day commuting well and truly covered too. Thanks to its 800-volt battery system it can benefit from the quicker chargers meaning 10 to 80% charge in 22 mins or 137 miles of range in as little as 10 minutes.
So, what is it like when the tarmac ends, is it a Range Rover. Well, a new traction management system can respond in 50 milliseconds, a figure that ICE equivalents can not even get close too. When the L405 Range Rover was launched its 900 mm wading depth was a headline figure, and this all electric L460 version can match it. The hill climbing ability is also matched with a 45⁰ slope being able to be climbed with ease.
With a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.3 seconds, the Electric Range Rover is certainly swift and with a quiet and refined drive train, its quite too.
As with all new Land Rover products, a First Edition is available alongside the usual trim levels of SE, HSE and Autobiography. SV, SV Ultra and SV Black versions are also available.
