So, my story of Land Rovers started at the young tender age of 16 when on a friend’s farm, we used to meet up and muck around the fields in a vehicle that we all learnt to drive off road in.  A Land Rover. In my younger days I was more of a girl racer when I passed my test and let’s be honest a Land Rover is hardly fast nor furious. I got to drive my friends Series 1, which (if I am honest) I absolutely hated at first. I actually got into the Land Rover scene more for the social side than the vehicles. I would join in at meets and off roading weekends to meet up with friends rather than spend time behind the wheel. However, the more I drove the series 1, the more I started to warm to its charm.

The bug had bitten as they say. I needed my own Land Rover so bought a 1960 Series 2 I called Otitis. Over the next few years, I got to own and drive several Land Rovers and loved the classic Range Rover the most.  Around eight years ago, I bought a green 1980 Series 3 109” ex mod and named him Victor. Over the years we have had him, we have carried out a 300 Tdi engine and auto box swap, both coming from my old Japanese import Discovery 1. The biggest challenge we faced in trying to shoehorn the mechanics from the Discovery auto in a 109” Series 3 were the radiators. I had to keep the Series 3 look, which meant a lot of blood, sweat and tears as we tried to make everything fit. The other modification we made was the colour, the green had to go and was replaced by my favourite colour – Purple.

Victor is now a permanent fixture in family, our 5-year-old girl has only ever known Land Rovers! Victor is a regular on the UK Land Rover show circuit as we travel around the country as a family. Unless you look closely, you can’t really tell what we have done. We have done everything ourselves, but it couldn’t have happened without all the help from my other half Mike. As I say to him, I gave him a girl and he gave me my boy ❤️ 😊
