Admins Corner

Since my last Admin’s corner, my feet don’t seem to have touched the ground. Its all been a bit of a blur to be honest. But in a good way. For the last few weeks, I have had my Series 123 club Yorkshire AR hat on. A month or so ago, a message appeared in our group chat asking if anyone knew someone with a 107” Station Wagon. I did, and it is a very lovely one, so I responded. Next thing I know I was asked to do a photoshoot and write the article.
The vehicle in question is owned by a good friend of mine, and we had not seen each other for ages so at the very least it was a good opportunity to catch up. Arrangements were made, and on a particularly sunny Saturday I jumped into the Blackberry the Defender and headed to the East Yorkshire Wolds. I won’t spoil the article, which will be appearing in the next issue of Mixed Grills, the Series 123 club magazine, but it was an absolute delight to drive around in a such a fantastic vehicle. A spot of lunch in a nice country café was a great touch to the day too.
The following weekend was the Duncombe Steam Rally, where the S123 club had a stand. Not a Land Rover event in its own right, the Steam Rally offers a nice selection of vintage steam powered vehicles, classic commercial vehicles, old tractors and of course a smorgasbord of Land Rovers. It was a pleasant event indeed and Minty managed to get there and back without issue.
The following weekend was the Waterside Weekender, the Jewel in the LRLife calendar. I always get a little stressed as we approach this weekend. The planning for the Greenlaning takes a lot of time and the admin needed for the weekend also means hours sat behind my laptop. You can read all about the weekend in this issue of the e-Zine but long story short it was a blast. A huge thanks goes out to all those who helped run the weekend, but also those who attended. These weekends are only a success if people turn up and enjoy themselves and judging by the nice positive comments received, people did. We also had a lot of newbies turn up and become part of our Land Rover Life family.
As I returned home and parked Minty up something dawned on me. In the last few weeks, the vehicle which I had clocked up the most miles in was Minty, the 1967 109”, and you know what it was great. Minty will have a well-deserved break now, before he is needed again for the Leafer’s at t’pit weekend. Our next outing is the York Land Rover show, where I hope to have Eeyore and Blackberry on display. We still have spaces on the stand so if you fancy joining our ever-growing family get in touch.
