Admins Corner – March 2026

March 2026

Its been a busy month at Land Rover Life, organising the Club Stands and going to see another aspect to some peoples Land Rover Life – The Comp Safari!

As I write this, I have been busily trying to organise the show calendar for the Land Rover Life group. We have had stands at the LRM Malvern Show and the LRO Belvoir show for the last few years and have always been oversubscribed, and this year looks to be no different. We have also added a new show, Castlewood 4×4, to the calendar this year and am already looking forward to that.

Bookings for the Waterside Weekender are coming in now, so that is shaping up to be a fun weekend too.

Whilst my own Land Rover life revolves around green lanes, shows and camping, I got to experience another aspect of Land Rover Life (for some) and that is the exciting world of Competition Safari. This year myself and Admin Dave attended the Race Retro show at Stoneleigh Warwickshire. The main reason for our visit was to see various classes of Rally cars on the show stage, and this included a number of Land Rover based Comp Safari vehicles. When it comes to Comp Safari there are a variety of classes you can drive in, and we witnessed an almost Standard Discovery 1 V8 at one end of the scale to full on bespoke vehicles at the other. Somewhere in between these, were some Land Rover derived 88” vehicles and a Bowler Wildcat to boot.

Watching them slide around wet tarmac sections and muddy tracks was brilliant, and I’d love to have a go if I’m honest. One of the exhibitors at the show was Tomcat Motorsport, and we had a great time chatting to the team. If you fancy getting involved in a competitive Land Rover Life, then the team at Tomcat Motorsport are the people to speak too. From 100” Comp Safari racers to 80” CCV trailers, they can cater for your needs and have recently launched the Tomcat Academy for newcomers to the sport.

It just goes to show, how ever you wish to live your Land Rover Life, there is an avenue for you!
