This month Land Rover Life Admin Violet finally introduces herself!

Its only taken ages!

Words and Pictures – Violet Deacon

Heya folks! Its finally time I’ve got around to writing one of these, after many months (Editors note – I actually gave up – Ian) of being asked for one to introduce myself. Many folks might know me, or know of me from the Land Rover scene…..whether that’s a good or bad thing I couldn’t say!

But either way I’m Violet, I’m the Land Rover Life admin of [REDACTED] (editor’s note: you’re the Lesbian Admin and Show Support/PR – Ian)

I’ve been into Land rovers since I was a little kid, one of my earliest memories is “driving” a family friends russet brown-ish Series III 88IIn when I was about 4, sitting on his lap steering. Then when I got old enough or rather tall enough to reach the pedals I started driving myself, offroad. Admittedly I first started in a Subaru Justy but then progressed to my dad’s 109In (side note, if anyone knows where a Series III 109In Station Wagon registration VGC998M is PLEASE let me know!!!)

Since then, I’ve Always wanted one, even writing to Jim’ll Fix It asking to drive a Series III 88In!! Luckily, he never wrote back!

Now I have to pause to think – 5 currently, Ary my 1983 Series III !09In, Aryette my 1983 Series 3 88In, Tak my 1955 Series One 86In ex-trialler, Zebby my 110 CSW and Syd my 1965 Series IIA 88In who was also my first car (never on the *road* though, hence no pictures of her)

I’ve enjoyed ‘restoring’ every vehicle I own, each one was derelict in some fashion whether it was Zebby my 110 who’d been sat on a driveway for as long as I can remember before we got her, or Aryette who’s rear spring hanger was busted & the back full of sheep shit, or Tak who needed a rear half chassis & a complete rewire.

Ary left with Tak above!

Even Dolly my Eunos Roadster (MX5) had been parked up and needed a new fuel tank.

For me saving the unsavable is a Passion, I’ve saved ones that would’ve DEFINITELY been scrapped otherwise

Above – There is only one coiler in my collection, the aptly named Zebby!

Soo yeah, Heya all, and I’ll no doubt see you at the shows! You’ll easily be able to spot me; there’s not many tall goth women with usually the scruffiest Land Rover on the LRL stand!
